Advair. Singulair. They can be used separately or together. Of course you must discuss with your Dr. and get an Rx for both of them.
Vegan+EIA+distance runner=conflict
There probably isn’t….
If there’s any possibility at all that there is, just checking. Thanks for any help.
All medication has, by law, been tested on animals.
So no, there are no effective asthma treatments that haven’t been tested on animals.
It doesn’t make you any less of a vegan if you take necessary drugs. The point is to minimise your contribution to animal suffering as far as is – in the words of the man who invented the word vegan – reasonable and practical.
Refusing necessary medication is not reasonable of practical.
So practice breathing techniques all you want, by all means – but take your prescribed meds too.

You may want to try the idea of gluten free cooking for many different reasons. Some people are highly allergic to gluten, so this answer is the only option for their health. For others, the avoidance of gluten can help with certain health problems or diseases they may have. Staying away from this food product has been known to reduce the frequency and severity of migraines.
Gluten is mostly found in carbohydrates. It is a staple of wheat and grain structure. Some happily discover that though they cannot eat wheat, oats sit fine with them. This is not one hundred percent, though. Some have a very bad reaction to oats, so it is important to speak to your doctor before you try it.
If you can eat oats, though, cooking will be a much simpler task for you since oats are so readily found and can be a wheat substitute in many recipes. If you cannot handle them, do not despair. There are plenty of other ingredients which can be used instead. The trouble is finding out which ones are good for you.
More than likely the substitutes you will rely on are corn, potato, and rice. They have much of the same consistency and health benefits. Though cooking may be difficult because these things need to be handled differently and they may not taste exactly the same, taste should not be a negative factor. This market is growing to help out people with allergies, so the chances of you finding delicious substitutes are only going to go up.
There are other less used products that can be just as good. They are not as fast growing or grow such large crops so easily, so they may be more expensive. Buckwheat is one. Soybean is another. You can also find taro and millet products to replace gluten. Be very careful, though, since they are often mixed with glutenous products like wheat flour. Unless the label specifically says it is gluten free or a gluten substitute, you need to read all of the ingredients.
It is not just food you have to watch out for. Gluten is a multi-purpose food source that can be used to thicken products or give them a pleasing consistency. Your doctor should alert you to other things apart from bread products that contain gluten. Some you would never guess. Alcohol, for one. Make up and lotions, for another. Sometimes even medication can use it in some form.
Beside gluten is usually such a staple of a person’s diet, you may want to rely on vitamins to preserve your health. Vitamin deficiencies you can get by avoiding certain foods could put you at risk for other health problems.
It is therefore twice as important if you are skipping on gluten to eat very well balanced diets full of fruits and vegetables. Take daily vitamins, especially fish oil capsules. Just make sure to check the label first. Your carbohydrates, proteins, and calcium are likewise important to get enough of since these are the products that often have gluten foods.

I found this home remedy for cough and it worked so well that I wanted to share it with everyone.
The first night I tried it, my son threw up a bunch of phlegm after 5 minutes which helped him get cleared up. About an hour and a half later, I gave him another teaspon before going to bed and within 5 minutes he was asleep (it usually takes him at least 30 minutes to do that)! Although he had the rapid shallow breathing due to his history of asthma, he didn’t cough during this first night and was able to sleep the entire night.
He only needed 2 nebulizer treatments to control his asthma symptoms*.
On the second night his asthma symptoms were gone and really slept well – even eliminated his snoring (a chronic problem due to stuffed sinuses).
By day 3, he had an occassional cough – not as frequent, severe or lingering like his previous experiences (lasts for at least 2 weeks). He was even able to play basketball and spend a day outside. I only had to give it to him in the morning and before going to bed.
I usually give it every 3 hours until cough is gone.
Here’s to green living and good health.
SAY NO TO DRUGS!
*Please do not take this as a cure to his asthma symptoms. I only used this to control his cough. I have been using other approaches to control his asthma and allergies all of which I believe have currently helped him recover quickly. Should his symptoms not improve with his doctor prescribed rescue medications, we are prepared to contact his doctor/take him to the ER as with previous experiences. I am hoping that he will no longer require these rescue asthma medications in the future.
